Founded in 1915, BOLET & TERRERO<\/strong><\/span> is the oldest law firm in Venezuela dedicated exclusively to Intellectual Property. For over a century, the firm has maintained a strong commitment to excellence, professionalism, and the protection of Intellectual Property rights, establishing itself as a national and international benchmark in the field.<\/p>\n

The firm was founded by cousins Leopoldo Terrero Monagas and Julio C\u00e9sar Bolet Monagas, both grandsons of General Jos\u00e9 Gregorio Monagas, former president of Venezuela. In addition to their blood relation, they shared an even closer family bond: Julio C\u00e9sar married Cristina Terrero Monagas, Leopoldo\u2019s sister. Julio C\u00e9sar was also the son of General Nicanor Bolet Peraza (1838\u20131906), a prominent intellectual and leading figure of 19th-century Venezuela.<\/p>\n

Together, Julio C\u00e9sar and Leopoldo developed the trademark and patent business in Venezuela at a time when this area of law was still in its infancy. Visionary and entrepreneurial, Leopoldo frequently traveled to the United States in search of international clients\u2014many of whom continue to trust the firm more than a century later.<\/p>\n

After the passing of Julio C\u00e9sar Bolet, who left no heirs, Leopoldo Terrero took sole leadership of the firm. He and his wife, Carmen Aguerrevere Elizondo, had three children: Leopoldo, Eur\u00edpides, and Carolina. As the firm grew, he invited his son Eur\u00edpides Terrero Aguerrevere\u2014then only 20 years old\u2014to join the practice. Upon his father\u2019s death in 1944, Eur\u00edpides assumed leadership of BOLET & TERRERO<\/strong><\/span>, guiding it for more than five decades.<\/p>\n

Throughout his long tenure, Eur\u00edpides was supported by his brother-in-law, Dr. Ignacio Iribarren Borges\u2014husband of Carolina Terrero\u2014and by Dr. Mariano Uzc\u00e1tegui Urdaneta, who both served as partners for several years. In 1971, Dr. Uzc\u00e1tegui left the firm, and his share was acquired by Eur\u00edpides. Later, in 1988, Dr. Iribarren also withdrew from the partnership to pursue a career in public service. From then on, Eur\u00edpides remained the sole partner and Managing Director of the firm.<\/p>\n

He and his wife, Vivian De Weck, had two children: Ver\u00f3nica and Santiago Terrero De Weck. In 1994, Santiago was admitted as a partner, bringing generational continuity to the family legacy.<\/p>\n

In January 1999, BOLET & TERRERO<\/strong><\/span> entered a new chapter with the addition of attorney Manuel Polanco Fern\u00e1ndez as a partner. Since then, he has served as Managing Partner. Known for his extensive experience in IP litigation and strong leadership skills, he has been instrumental in the firm’s consolidation and modernization. Under his leadership, Bolet & Terrero has successfully met the challenges of an increasingly complex legal environment while staying true to its founding values.<\/p>\n

The spirit of renewal and international focus was further strengthened in 2021 with the incorporation of attorneys Luis Alejandro Henr\u00edquez De Sola and Rafael Ernesto Ort\u00edn\u00a0Perozo as partners. Both brought significant national and international experience in Intellectual Property, related areas, and regulatory matters, enhancing the firm’s technical and strategic profile.<\/p>\n
